Hi team,

I hope every player is ready to compete again and enjoy football with FC Euroatlas.

After the first round we proved we can play really well and defeat anyone. But for that, there is no magical secret: play with team spirit and solidarity and, above all, enjoy.

We have all we need to improve our performance and fight for, who knows, a place in first division. Now that we are seriously adapted to the new pitch in Merl, we have a big advantage since the conditions are ideal for a team like us, who wants the ball, who’s fast and…. (quite) young? ;)

And talking about youngs, I would like to make a special mention to Gianca and Manu, an example for all the team!

Two more practical things:

1) although we improved our attitude in the pitch, please, don’t speak to the ref!! we saw it’s counter-productive.
2) I know sometimes it’s not easy but let’s try to be on time for the games. We all know the importance of warming up before kick-off.

FC Euroatlas 3 – 1  FC Cargolux

After the draw on the initial round, The Blues were defeated at home by FC Europa in a match to forget. However, the team learned the lesson and it was possible to see some improvements on the friendly that took place last week against FC Innoclean (3-3), at Sandweiler.

Yesterday, at Merl’s stadium, FC Euroatlas gave continuity to this improvement process and presented the audience with a good performance and, consequently, a good and well deserved victory! The final score could have been much more expressive as result of the many goal opportunities created during the entire match. There was no need to suffer so much…

FC Euroatlas entered very concentrated and searched the goal since the first minute, while FC Cargolux was trying to use the counter-attack  to get to the goal. With no surprise, The Blues reached the goal quite soon. After winning a second ball inside the area, Nuno makes the first goal. Apart of this moment, lots of opportunities were created… Johnny hit the bar and Bruno missed one goal face to face with the keeper for instance. Almost in the end of the first half, completely against the flow of the game and probably on the first and single mistake of The Blues, FC Cargolux levels the match. One unexpected lost ball in the midfield caught the home defence completely open on the left side. The winger receives a good pass from the other side of the pitch and makes the 1-1. However, FC Euroatlas controlled completely the first half. All sectors were performing well, a safe defence, an accurate midfield and fast attack… The ball just didn’t want to get in the net!

Feeling that the result was completely unfair, FC Euroatlas started the second half with the same attitude. The FC Cargolux goalkeeper was doing a great match we must say, and he continued to perform extremely well in the second half. However, the end of the story was going to different. Nuno and Kevin (entered on the second half) had several clear goal opportunities. Some bad luck or some huge saves from the keeper were avoiding the goal. One after the other, the ball simply didn’t want to get in… Fortunately, The Blues didn’t give up and after another great save of the opponent’s goalkeeper, Ricardo (just entered some minutes before) wins the rebound and scores. Some minutes after another good combination on the attack and Álvaro, on the right side of the area shoots to the left corner and makes the third… Apart from the goal on the first half, FC Cargolux never had goal changes. One or two shots from outside the area, one or another free-kick/corner-kick was everything that they manage to do… So Iulian had a quiet night we may say!

Some may say that the opponent was not a very strong team, when looking to the classification table. But FC Euroatlas really did a good match, without making the type of mistakes that cost already some points this season.

It seems that things start to look good !
