The season has started… .

It’s been a pretty dramatic start to the season, that’s for sure. A couple of weeks ago, we kicked-off facing Cargolux in a Cup knock-out game. Last year they won the 3rd division, so there was a good amount of […]

Pre-Season 2017/2018: Warming up… (FC Luxair 2-5 FC Euroatlas)

“The Blues” are back again! The pre-season 2017-2018 started and the players returned from a well-deserved holidays period. Like it happens every year, it’s a complicated period for the coach (Nuno), as the FC Euroatlas players are very well referenced […]

End of Season 2016/2017: We were almost there…

The last season was a very positive one for “The Blues”. The fans, a bit sceptic at the beginning due to the 6th place achieved on the previous season (2015/2016), started to become more and more enthusiastic along the year, […]

It’s that time of year.

It’s that time of year when the sound of cleats on the dressing-room tiles rings in your ears; when you feel the tightness of those shorts and wonder why they keep ordering them so small; when you smell the wet […]

One goal ensures a solid victory

Just one goal, but a solid and very important victory for FC Euroatlas on the 4th fixture of the championship over FC Spuerkeess. FC Euroatlas was playing home but against a strong team that, during the last season, was fighting for the first positions. On one side of the pitch, the will and the energy of a recently promoted team and on the other, the experience of a team more used to the level of the first division…

Playing on a 4-2-3-1, FC Euroatlas tried to impose their game from the beginning but the opponent was well organised and didn’t allow that control. There was a constant and tough battle on the midfield. And just with some well succeed rupture passes to the strikers, both teams managed to create one or other occasion to score and, on the FC Euroatlas side, Iulian solved the situation with a couple of good saves. It was precisely in one of those rupture passes that, before the half time, that Jussi made the effort to reach and follow the pass towards goal that he got injured and had to be substituted. He was replaced by Nuno, who became the man of the match… The half time came and the 0-0 was a fare result for both teams…

The second half starts and more of the same, a very intensive match… In the middle of the second half, despite not playing in his usual position, Nuno scored the only goal of the day. Leaving the defence behind with a fast run to correspond to a rupture pass, Nuno arrives inside the area and shoots from the right to the left post. The goalkeeper seems to touch the ball but it was not enough and FC Euroatlas shook the net. After the goal, FC Spuerkess reacted and took over the control trying to find the way to the goal. But the final whistle came and the result remain 1-0.

We have to highlight the performance of FC Euroatlas defence who was concentrated during the entire match, with a good timing on tackling without dangerous faults or yellow cards. But this was possible due to a superb performance of the midfield sector of the team… They were really the first wall that FC Spuerkeess faced on each attack! Most of the attacks were stopped right there and the few that were not, the defence solved them with class, including the goalkeeper that was also highly focused and well positioned.

In the end, a short result but a big jump on the classification table, very close to the podium!

Mon passage par Euroatlas

“After only a few months in Luxembourg, I met Nuno randomly on a football pitch. He told me about the Euroatlas team. I did not hesitate and joined as soon as I could not only because it was an opportunity to play competitive matches regularly but also because it was a great chance for me to meet new people and integrate in Luxembourg.

The team was composed of young foreign people who were in Luxembourg for work just like me so it was very easy and quick to integrate. Team spirit was great right from the start!

Once it was time for me to move, I realised that I would miss the excitation of the matches, the after-match drinks and the training sessions! Nuno took the lead as a coach and his serious implication made the level improve significantly while keeping the same team spirit! He should be proud of what he achieved just like I am proud of having been part of the Euroatlas adventure! I wish you a great new season!”
